Sunnies Cafe: Newest Go-To Spot in BGC
After long months of waiting Sunnies Studios has unveiled their first branch of Sunnies Cafe at BGC! Sunnies Cafe has been dubbed as newest go-to spot because of its Instagram-worthy food and interiors. Sunnies Cafe owners are the same genius group of creatives behind Sunnies Studios that’s why they almost has the same branding style.
Yesterday, August 2, Carlo and I decided to do a BGC food crawl. We were quite intrigued by Sunnies Cafe and the buzz it gets from the IG-cult, so without any second-thoughts we went there. Our original plan was that Sunnies Cafe would be our first stop. But unfortunately, we were informed by one of the staff that they will be resuming their business operation around 6PM (we were quite shocked because there were no posts regarding that)

So Carlo and I decided to just make it as our last stop and continued our food crawl (read here more about our BGC food crawl). After a few hours, we made our way back to the Sunnies Cafejust in the nick of time before they open at 18th hour. A lot of people were already waiting outside, and a few minutes later Sunnies Cafe staff opened its doors and made each and every guest seated.
I was lost for words with Sunnies Cafe’s interior design. Each and every nook is guaranteed to meet everyone’s IG feed goals. We were given this pink menu filled with the café’s best treats. Sunnies Cafe offers a wide range of food and drinks from all-day brunch, salads, soups, main course, house blends and even signature cocktails.
Carlo and I picked crispy tacos, honey garlic crispy chicke, crab fat rice bowl, blackberry iced tea, and even got a free dessert, Sunnies funfetti.
Journey Freaks’ tip: Dine at Sunnies Café to get free Sunnies funfetti until August 8, 2016. Read the terms and conditions here.

Sunnies Cafe’s crispy tacos (PHP 270) made with asada steak, fried quail eggs, homemade crispy parmesan taco shells and cilantro cream sauce is definitely the bomb! Every bite is an explosion of flavors. What I also liked about their crispy tacos is their cutest fried quail eggs. It looks fake due to its perfection.
Carlo gave the Sunnies Cafe’s honey garlic crispy chicken (PHP 290), it was recommended by one of their staff. It is served with pickled cucumbers and cilantro lime rice. For Carlo, while the honey garlic chicken tasted well, the rice is just OK.
I was quite intrigued by their crab fat rice bowl (PHP 250) and decided to give it a try. The serving is generous enough and I like it. The veggie omelette that was served over the crab fat rice balanced the strong yet savory taste of the rice.
For our drinks, we opted to try Sunnies Cafe’s Blackberry iced tea (PHP 100). One word – refreshing! I loved how it taste like an authentic tea. It didn’t taste like those powdered iced teas you can find at some other cafes and restaurants. It reminded me of the German cranberry tea I used to drink before.
Lastly, Sunnies Cafe served us one Sunnies funfetti for free. The plating of the Sunnies Funfetti is definitely Instagram-worthy! While the taste is equally good too! It is made with creamy tres leches cake, whipped cream, vanilla bourbon ice cream and with some birthday sprinkles.
Overall, we both liked the experience and of course the food. Their service is definitely commendable too however they need to inform the guests beforehand about their operating hours. Currently, they open their doors around 11AM and closes around 3PM and then resumes around 6PM to 10PM. One of their staff informed us that their operating hours will be stable starting next week. Sunnies Cafe’s projected business hours will be from 7AM to 12MN.
I like how they still managed to makeyour takeout food fashionable! Check out their paper bag and food box.
