Starbucks SM San Mateo Now Brewing
Starbucks SM San Mateo sent us these goodies as invites for the grand launching of the newest branch, Starbucks SM San Mateo. Each parcel consisted a customized tumbler, a Starbucks card, Buy One Get One coupons and a letter from the Starbucks Philippines. Last May 29, Starbucks Philippines has just unveiled its newest store, Starbucks SM San Mateo. Currently, the coffee giant, Starbucks, has over 160 branches nationwide. So there’s nothing new with Starbucks popping out like mushrooms in every town and city. I believe that the number itself reflects that Filipinos are into the serious caffeine gaming – which is great. It was the morning of the 29th of May when Carlo and I went to visit the newest Starbucks store. The branch can be seen and accessed easily because it is located at the foyer of the mall right across the French Baker. The moment we stepped into the store we were embraced by the industrial vibe of the place. The Starbucks SM San Mateo branch was built with the industrial style. Every detail was well-thought. Honestly, I love the whole look of the store. Rough finishes on cement, wood and some metal interplay add interest and visual dimension and character. I like how every element and detail are working together. From couches, high chairs to a long industrial table. If there were one surface in such spaces that could be considered a design definition, it would be their ceiling. The ceiling of Starbucks SM San Mateo is an eye-candy. As for the color, earth tones, neutral colors were painted around the store. Such hues really help to bring visual warmth just like coffee. Faux brick walls with a shade of gray work very well with the industrial style. The folded brown linen clothes, old-looking boxes and trays with some coffee bags on it has an added re-style space. One particular area that Starbucks SM San Mateo lacks is the al-fresco area. So sorry, for the puffing customers. (I am kind of accustomed to Starbucks branches having al-fresco areas.) My favorite part of the store is this wall with a calligraphy stencils with some added drama from the lights.
I was a bit overwhelmed by the fully-stocked showcase refrigerator filled with sumptuous sandwiches, cheesecakes, bagels, and pastries. I’ve ordered my usual go-to Starbucks drink, Coffee Jelly Frappucino and tried their S’mores from the Bakery section. While Carlo ordered his favorite Chocolate Chip Cream Frappucino. The time passed by so quickly that it was about time for lunch. And before leaving, we’ve met and had a small talk with the Starbucks SM San Mateo’s branch manager, Jeremiah. He was very accommodating to every question we’ve asked.
Overall, our Starbucks SM San Mateo experience is great. The interior really plays a big part into giving the customers a relaxing vibe. We can’t wait to be back and try some more pastries and frappucinos. So if you’re around the area of San Mateo or nearby places be sure to drop by to the newest coffee shop in town!
