During our visit at Paper Moon Cafe at UP Town Center we were quite intrigued of what mille crepes really tastes like (although we were feeling full at that time since we had dinner already at Mad Mark’s). Crepe cake is basically a love child of crepe and cake, hence the “name”. Paper Moon Cafe is one of the few cafe specializes in crepe cakes or colloquially known as mille crepes.
Mille crepes is the exquisite creation of Madame Emy Wada The good news is they have expanded their café at UP Town Center! If you’re a fan of crepes, which we definitely are (most of us), crepe cakes exist just to make you happy. It tastes like heaven-sent legit happiness. Think of about instead of just munching one crepe, you get to eat multiple; and guess what they’re layered with amazing things in life.
Did you know: Mille Crepes is a classic French cake that translates to “thousand crêpe cake”.
Paper Moon Cafe UP Town Center branch recently opened its doors last September 2016 through the joint venture of Madame Emy and the Viva International Food & Restaurants Inc. Currently, they have 10 branches around the metro. Paper Moon Cafe also serves sandwiches, salads and quiche. Also, they serve hot and cold beverages (from teas, lemonades, coffee and frozen blends) that goes well with your chosen pastries or sandwiches. Paper Moon Cafe sells six variants of mille crepes (Original, Chocolate, Mango, Matcha, Ube, and Strawberry). Their mille crepes consists of 20 super thin layers of goodness with light crème in between. They also sell Choux Fromage, French Macaron, Cupcakes, Cream Puffs, Cookies, ice cream and other savory options for customers.
So Carlo and I decided to try their mille crepes and strawberry shortcake. Carlo chose the Ube mille crepes (Whole 10” PHP2000, Slice PHP225) because it was recommended by one of their staff. As for my order, I picked the Strawberry Shortcake (Whole 10” PHP3000, Slice PHP325) since strawberry is one of my favorite fruits to munch on. For Carlo, the mille crepes texture has a unique character and the Ube flavor is outstanding. The overall flavor is very light but not forgettable. No wonder why it is one of the must-eat in Paper Moon Cafe. On the other hand, the Strawberry Shortcake of Paper Moon Cafe is another must-eat. Just by looking at the strawberries, you can already tell that they are fresh. The light fluffy cake and the crème made a heavenly taste. Every bite of Strawberry Shortcake felt like I’m on a cloud 9.
Overall, the Paper Moon Cafe UP Town Center’s mille crepes are good and I think your palette deserve a treat like their Ube mille crepes. It is a game-changer when it comes to offering unique flavors. Although they are priced a bit higher than other creperies, I guess it’s safe to say that it is because their ingredients are imported to match the standards and quality of the ones from Tokyo. I would recommend this to my friends and would love to go back for more.
