Lemon and Olives: Best Greek Taverna in Baguio City
Lemon and Olives Greek Taverna is a charming old-house-turned-into-restaurant spot along Outlook Drive South, Baguio City. It is relatively new as it just celebrated its first anniversary last June. The restaurant serves quality authentic Greek food with their in-house chef who came all the way from the city of Athens in Greece. Honestly, we are not that familiar when it comes to Greek cuisine and the in-betweens of it. Nevertheless, we are glad to stumble upon this restaurant – keep reading to know why.
Before we jump into the food scene, let us just tackle first the beauty of Lemon and Olives’ look and feel. Although the restaurant resembles a country house, wait until you see the menu and food to know that it is a Greek restaurant. Every nook and cranny of this restaurant is perfectly decorated or in a more millennial term – instagrammable. From the painted walls, chairs, detail of the ceiling, lamps, tables and even up to the finest detail – everything looked so laid-back yet perfect.
Since Lemon and Olives has beautiful interiors we then decided to just sit inside but one of their staff recommended trying their al-fresco area. To our surprise, we were left in awe when we saw the beautiful view of Baguio City’s landscape. The al-fresco area is a lovely spot where tables are perched on a little veranda in which guest can sit back and have a good time while enjoying the food and the view.
Now onto their menu, Lemon and Olives offers a wide range of food from appetizers to the main course to desserts and beverages. Since we are not familiar with the cuisine, we had to painstakingly choose which ones we would really like to try. We were glad one of their staff came to rescue! We decided to order Lemon and Olives’ Traditional Greek Dips served with Homemade Pita Hummus (Php 130), Souvlaki Plate Beef and Chicken (Php 270), for dessert – Classic Baklava (Php 160), and for our drinks – House blend iced tea (Php 70).
We were left for words when they served us our order – the servings are pretty big and can be good for sharing! The taste of each food is excellent. How excellent? We had to order another round of pita hummus because it was so good. The pita tasted fresh while the hummus felt so light on the palate yet so tasty. Lemon and Olives definitely perfected the flavor of souvlaki plate. It was a good harmonious explosion of flavor in our mouth. The meats were still succulent and extraordinarily delicious. We also liked that it was served with fresh pita, tzatziki, garlic and chili dip. We saved the best for last; their classic baklava is a showstopper. Although it came in a small serving, the flavor is unforgettable. It was a sweet delicate ride into our palate!
In a nutshell…
Lemon and Olives charge fair-priced, quality Greek food. Here you get your money’s worth – perhaps more than that. You can either choose to dine during the day to enjoy the warmth of the sun and the view or go for a night feasting under the bright stars. We could say that Lemon and Olives is one of the best restaurant anyone could try in Baguio City. We literally wish that they could expand to Manila.
