Jims Castle Inn: A Cheap Hotel in Coron, Palawan
Months before our Coron trip I was already busy searching for a cheap yet worthy place to stay in. I was psyched when I stumbled upon this cheap place in Facebook known as Jims Castle Inn. I was hesitant at first but after reading numerous Agoda.com and Tripadvisor.com reviews I immediately contacted them to book our stay. And I was surprised when they gave me a big discount.

Jims Castle Inn is located in Dinagpan Street, Barangay 5, Coron, Palawan. The main landmark you could tell the driver is Rusi Motorcycle signage. Well, I wish the hotel could provide their own signage at the main road for an easier access for the guests. The hotel is at the end of an alley which requires you to walk downhill and uphill. It may be tiring for some but a little effort won’t hurt, right? Nonetheless, I still appreciate the fact that they are situated a bit far from the main road that makes your sleep more peaceful.
Jims Castle Inn is one of the cheapest place you could find in the town of Coron and also the newest! The hotel opened its doors to travelers back in January 2016 and since then receiving a lot of bookings and very positive feedback. The hotel houses 11 rooms (Fan room – 3, Standard Room -3, Standard Room with Kitchen – 1, Triple Room- 2, Family Room-1, Dormitory Room- 1).

We stayed in the dormitory type room and got complimentary towels to use during our stay. What I love about our room are the comfy bunk beds, clean beddings and the A/C which works in a very good condition. As for the restroom, it has a clean sink, toilet bowl and a bidet sprayer! Also the bathroom comes with a hot shower but sometimes the water’s pressure is quite low and may prolong your bath time. The only downer in our room was the restroom’s tiles, you have to be very careful every time you step on it because it becomes really slippery when wet.
The price is really cheap if you would compare it to other hotels in Coron. Each room has a fast WiFi access which is very a good plus for travelers. The price is ranging from P300 to P1300 depending on what room will you avail.
Before booking bear in mind that the hotel has an old and new building. The fan rooms are located in the old building which is a bit shabby and is situated at the back of the new one.
Jims Castle Inn Breakfast Menu
Since we were a group of budget travelers we just opted to cook our own food and yet they assisted us for the utensils and literally everything we need. But if you just want to relax and willing to spend an extra dough from your pocket, you could order meals from their menu. Jims Castle Inn offers mostly breakfast food ranging from American, Filipino and even continental breakfast. The price is ranging from P75 to P150 per meal.
Jims Castle Inn can also arrange van transfers to and from the airport and as well as your island tour. You could opt to choose joining the group tour that ranges from P650 to P2400 per person with inclusions of entrance fees, life vest, picnic lunch and a transfer. But if you’re in a big group I would suggest to just get a private tour that ranges P2000 to P4000.
The things I wish they could improve are the restroom’s tiles since it is too slippery when wet and also the water pressure because it is quite low. But all in all, this place is really perfect for those who want to get more than what they pay for.
Manuel and Kezziel of Jims Castle Inn
I commend both Manuel and Kezziel for their impeccable service. They were both very eager to help us in every way possible. They are very accommodating in terms of our needs, questions and even gave us some tips on how to save in Coron. They will always greet you with a big smile and sincerely work hard to ensure that your stay in Jims Castle Inn would be an exceptionally good experience. And as a way of giving back for their service we gave an additional tip before we leave. Again, thank you Manuel and Kezziel for giving us a homey feel.
Honestly, I enjoyed my entire stay and I could say I did get more than what I paid for! This place deserves a 4.5/5 rating. I can highly recommend Jims Castle Inn to anyone who values comfort and budget at the same time. I’ll be back soon!
